


By 2050, about one in every three people in the U.S. will be Latino. Yet Latinos suffer greatly from health disparities – differences in the burden of certain diseases and health conditions compared to non-Hispanic whites. Latinos tend to have less income, education, access to health care and insurance coverage, placing them at a greater disadvantage when it comes to being in good health.
So the team at SaludToday, led by the Institute for Health Promotion Research
at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, is trying to raise awareness about health and positive health behaviors among Latinos.
By bringing you the latest stories, news and events regarding Latino health and encouraging you to make comments, give us your feedback and contribute your insight and stories, we hope we can make huge leaps in improving Latino health.

Sharing Stories
SaludToday offers a variety of stories on Latinos who have overcome obstacles to survive disease or improve their health. These stories are featured on our Web site, blog, Facebook and Twitter accounts through videos, audio stories, magazines and newsletters.
Seeking Stories
SaludToday also wants to hear your stories, and we have the capability to do just that. Sign up with us, and you can post stories, comment on existing stories or videos, receive our blog feeds and electronic newsletters, and take part in our polls – and together we can send a message of health to Latinos everywhere.
Latino Health News and Research
The SaludToday blog brings you the latest stories, news, research and information on many different aspects of Latino health, including cancer, obesity and culture’s impact on health. This blog will feature news, polls and stories about Latino life and health, from research on Latino health to interventions to boost fitness and prevent obesity among Latino children to unique stories of Latino cancer survivors, and much more. Public service announcements
The research team behind SaludToday has produced 10 public service announcements (each in English and Spanish) over the years to demonstrate the benefits of clinical trial participation and preventative screening among Latinos. You are invited to watch and rate these videos, and let us know how we could improve them or improve their effectiveness.
